How to Recover Deleted Text Messages on iPhone: The Complete Guide

There are three ways to recover deleted text messages on your iPhone 11/11 PRO/XS/XR/X/8/7/6s/6/SE/5s/5/4 : using iCloud, iTunes or a third party application. All three methods will be shown in this text.

Recover Deleted Text Messages on iPhone

When you periodically clean your iPhone, you will delete older messages. But, it may happen that you need some of the messages that have been deleted. What to do then? First of all, stay calm and read the following text. We explain ways to recover deleted messages from iPhone. In fact, the most important thing is to recover them from the backup - for which we recommend iTunes. At worst, you will need to use a third party application.

Recover messages through iCloud

If you have already backed up your iPhone to iCloud or iTunes, you can recover all messages deleted from the backup - of course, only the ones that were on your phone when you created it will be there. Keep in mind that some things have changed and Messages have been in iCloud for some time. You can start syncing between all devices that use the same Apple ID. However, synchronization means that messages from each of them will be deleted. Therefore, the only way to recover messages via iCloud is to completely wipe the iPhone and retrieve a copy previously saved in the cloud.

So remember to make regular backups. Your settings can be found in  Settings  ->  owner name  ->  iCloud  ->  Manage Storage ->  Backups. When making a backup, you must perform a factory reset before restoring the  backup  created in iCloud. Note that backups are marked with time and date - you can choose the most appropriate one.

Recover messages through iTunes

When the above method did not work, you have two other options. The first is an attempt to recover deleted messages via  iTunes  . Sometimes it is a faster and better way than others. If  syncing with iTunes  is not disabled, a backup will be created whenever you sync your  iPhone  with a PC or Mac. To use this method:

  • Connect iPhone to the PC with which it is synchronized
  • ITunes should open - otherwise, open it manually
  • your  iPhone  will be displayed - select it
  • Click the Restore Backup option

The backup data will replace the data on the phone. This may take a few minutes. If during the backup there are messages in the phone memory that you deleted after completing - they will return to the phone.

Recover deleted data using a third party application

If the two methods above are not successful, it is time to turn to specialized applications. There are several applications available on the network that allow you to recover deleted messages on the  iPhone  . The best are:

  • EaseUS MobiSaver Free
  • PhoneRescue
  • Enigma Recovery
  • WonderShare Dr.Fone for iOS
  • iMyFone D-Back Data Recovery
  • Tenorshare iPhone Data Recovery.

Below you can see the recovery step by step using EaseUS MobiSaver and PhoneRescue

EaseUS MobiSaver

easeUS mobisaver

This software is capable of recovering up to 12 file types from the iPhone / iPad / iPad Touch. This software is available both in a free version (allows the recovery of one photo 1 video at a time) and also in paid mode (retrieves unlimited photos and videos and still manages to recover messages, messages from the Kik app, in addition to the chat history WhatsApp).

After downloading EaseUS MobiSaver, connect your iPhone to the computer and start the software.

With the software screen open, you will have to click on the first square in the upper left corner, which reads: “Recover from iOS Device”. Your iPhone or any other recognized iOS device will be listed in a box in the center of the window. Click the “Scan” button

The software will now list all the files it has managed to recover. The list of files that EaseUS MobiSaver is able to find includes photos and videos, contacts and messages. On the left of the screen you will see all the categories of files that the software has listed, click on the one you want to recover. For example, if you want to restore messages, select the messages check box. You can now start selecting and restoring the messages you want to recover.

EaseUS MobiSaver is also capable of restoring via backup from iTunes and iCloud, the two methods we showed you initially, and which you can also use without having to install extra software.

We also separated in this matter the step by step of another very good and known software to recover data from iOS devices (it can also restore data from Android devices), we are talking about PhoneRescue . This software is capable of finding up to 31 types of files. The download can be performed here. The operation is very simple.

When starting the software you have to define the backup method. Whether the restoration will be done directly by the device, by backing up iTunes or iCloud. Then you will have to check the types of files you want to recover (photos, messages, videos, etc.). Then just mark the files you want to recover (remember that they will be divided into their respective categories) and then click on one of the two buttons at the bottom right of the PhoneRescue screen. The first button represents that the data will be stored directly on your device, while clicking on the second button the data will be saved on your computer.
